A LITTLE ABOUT ME
Joel Merry
Founder/Filmmaker
Hi there!
My name is Joel and I am the founder and lead cinematographer at Big Adventure Wedding Films.
Aside from being a wedding filmmaker, I am a lover of everything outdoors and adventurous!
Capturing moments on camera has always been a central theme in my life, which makes my job as a wedding filmmaker so much more than just a job - it's a passion. Wherever I am you'll find me with a camera in my hand; whether I'm free diving in the ocean with my camera strapped to my side, or flying my drone through the snowy mountains.
People often ask me how I got into wedding filmmaking and my answer is always the same - I believe that this job found me. I love documenting real life and what better story is there to tell than that of two people who have met by chance and fallen in love? It's a story that repeats itself over and over, but it's entirely unique to every single couple. I love being a part of telling that story on the most special day of their lives. I couldn't think of a more perfect job, and I'm honoured that I get to call this my work.
As for how I shoot, I'm laid back and want to have an incredible day celebrating with you, and that - combined with the fact that I'm also serious about my cinematography - creates the perfect formula for a unique and adventurous wedding film.
As a luxury film studio, I only take a limited number of bookings per year. This means that I avoid creating a conveyor belt of work, and am able to dedicate your wedding film all of the time and attention that it needs to be the very best that it can be.
I created Big Adventure by being intentional. This is your biggest adventure. Your wedding and your love story are unique. And therefore your wedding film should be too.
